Old Louisville Engagement Session
There’s something almost cinematic about Old Louisville in the fall—the way golden leaves scatter across brick walkways, the crisp air settling in, and the quiet calm that takes over the neighborhood once summer ends. For Hannah and Alex, it was the perfect setting: romantic, historic, and just a little bit nostalgic.
Hannah is one of my closest friends now, but when we first stepped into this session together, we were somewhere between clients and friends—unknowingly on the edge of something deeper. We spent the afternoon strolling St. James Court, laughing about how I kept going accidentally viral using the same song: “I Think I Like When It Rains” by Willis. (Yes, the song is still stuck in my head.) There was such ease between them that it made photographing their love feel like hanging out with old friends—simple, genuine, and full of humor.
St. James Court is one of Old Louisville’s most iconic spots, especially in the fall. Built in the late 19th century and known for its Victorian architecture, it’s famous for its brick streets, grand facades, and elaborate fountains. Even when the flowers fade, the neighborhood feels alive—rich with texture and history. That day, the trees had just begun to let go of their leaves, creating a soft, rust-colored carpet beneath our feet.
The absence of blooms didn’t matter. Instead, we leaned into the moodiness—letting the quiet streets, the fading light, and the season do the storytelling. Wrapped in knit layers and laughter, Hannah and Alex brought warmth to the cool afternoon. Their energy was playful, grounded, and full of the kind of tenderness that doesn’t need props to shine.
This Old Louisville engagement session was the beginning of more than just a photo gallery. It’s the beginning of one of my great friendships.
