Orcas Island Wedding
Two summers ago I made my way out to the west coast and onto a tiny little island for an Orcas Island Wedding. I’ve always loved the Pacific Northwest and I try to make it out there a few times a year, but this was my first time to one of the islands in Washington. My second photographer (Lindsey) went out to Orcas Island a day early. We wanted to get acquainted with the roads and sight see a little. We also wanted to photograph and video a little B roll before the wedding. Also, this was my first time on one of the ferries and I enjoyed it way more than I thought I would. I normally don’t like boats – but going on the ferry was like a fun little adventure.
On the wedding day the bride got ready in the cutest little Inn, called the Orcas Hotel, which I definitely want to stay at next time I’m on the island. They also had their intimate reception there that evening as well. The food was magnificent and they were having a little concert series there during the day. It feels like it’s straight out of Stars Hollow. The ceremony took place at the cutest little church I’ve seen called the Victorian Valley Chapel. It’s a little white chapel nestled in between a field and the woods and it’s everything you could want for an intimate wedding.
I loved how the bride and groom kept their day very intimate and personal. They also really love Orcas Island and knew they wanted to have a small destination wedding there. I’m honored to have been a part of it in some way.
