The Dive Motel Couples Session

The History & Heart of The Dive

Originally built in 1956 on Dickerson Pike in East Nashville, this building began its story as the Key Motel — a typical motor inn of its era. Over time it drifted into disrepair until creative minds revived it as the Dive Motel & Swim Club, officially re-opening in August 2019. What stands out in its transformation is how every room was given character: disco balls, a “party switch” that flips between channels labelled “Sex,” “Drugs,” “Rock & Roll,” and “Sleep,” shag carpets, vinyl wallpapers, and bold mid-century details. Its design isn’t meant to feel precious or pristine. Instead, it embraces the “motel” ethos — a little irreverent, a little wild, utterly unique.

The orange room—where our couples session unfolded—anchors that legacy. The double tubs side-by-side nod to playful retro luxury. The décor whispers vintage glamour. And the overall mood? It’s both fun and raw, perfect for a session that’s more than posed—it’s alive.
